When did they come around - Mascots didn't become popular with teams or schools till the late 1800's

Beaver – hairy

Some mascots are chosen because they represent the city or state that the team is in

Brewers - Wisconsin

Steelers - Pittsburgh

Retired People – Florida

All Mascots have weaknesses

Indians – small pox

Goats – Goat F*ckers

Browns – Any other colors

Brewers – Prohibitions

Earth – Republicans

Cowboys – brokebacks

78 year olds – Dick Chennys

Vikings – Boat Parties

Some mascots are really lame

Marquette “Golden Eagles” - their logo is a blue eagle ( check it out )

Stevens Point “Pointers” – even more lame because the name of their mascot is Steve the Pointer

Utah Jazz – Utah isn't known for Jazz at all, it's known for Mormons.

In 1871 UWO was known as Wisconsin State Normal School and the schools mascot was the Normals. ( check it out )
