In 2002 a student at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh named Robert Bacon started a website directed towards sharing pictures with his friends. The name of the site was UWO dorm life and it turned into an unofficial 8 th floor North Scott Hall page. Soon word spread about the site and more people from around campus sent in photos and became popular with many students living in the dorms.
The site became so popular that it attracted attention from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh staff and most importantly the Dean of Students. Because of many photos depicting alcohol consumption and countless student handbook violations, Robert Bacon was kicked out of North Scott Hall and relocated to Fletcher Hall. The Dean also forced the website to shut down until Bacon was 21 and could drink legally.
The site was re-opened a couple years later under the name UWO College Life with the domain name uwocollegelife.com. With popularity growing on the UW Oshkosh campus other schools heard about the site and started sending in pictures. Many schools then started suggesting that we celebrate all the UW system schools way of life and not just Oshkosh. The name was then changed to UW College Life with the domain name of uwcollegelife.com.
Since then UW College Life has been a site for all the college students here in Wisconsin. Robert Bacon still runs the site, but now has many more people helping him with articles, videos, and photos. Plus everyone who submits a photo or video is part of the site.
